Sketchwalk October @ City Hall
An outdoor location sketching trip was organized at the City Hall and Supreme Court. We were all excited because a video shoot was to be made for the entire sketching process accompanied with some interviews of the sketchers. If this is all good, Urban Sketchers Singapore would be appearing on Discovery Channel Asia. Well that did not distract us from spending a glorious day sketching the once government building that is going to be our all new National Art Gallery. More information can be found here: The National Art Gallery. Therefore we wouldn’t want to miss out on the chance of exhibiting there, so we had our sketches review in the “Police Post”. We were all proudly proclaiming that we actually were the first exhibitors at the National Gallery. Congrats Urban Sketchers!!
Though it was a hot hot day, I could see that many sketchers were not deterred. Most of them sketched under the blazing heat, enduring the heat of the day. Bravo!! Since I couldn’t really function well under the scorching sun, I spent most of my time cowering in the shadows, hiding from being burnt alive. It was so hot for me I was lazy to even take out my pen or watercolor pad. I stood in the shade and sketched the sketchers instead. But I love it because for the first time, sketchers were all under one roof! We had fun, so did I!! And all thanks to Dr Yeo who gave us a great presentation of the historical aspects of the City Hall during its heydays (namely the Japanese surrendering and the swearing in of our first president, correct me if I am wrong).
