Last Sunday, the threat of rain encouraged me to look for an indoor drawing venue. So I visited the Asian Civilisations Museum and decided to sketch at the special exhibit on "Sumatra - Isle of Gold". For over 2 hours I drew in their exhibition gallery - an amazing collection of ancestor sculptures, bead work, gold jewelry, keris and tradional Sumatran architecture. Here are the results, drawn in subdued lighting - sort of like our night sketching on Rangoon Road again! My apologies to the stone figure on the right for balancing the keris on his head!
Nice. Love the detail on the textures. Seems like an interesting exhibit.
ReplyDeletethats a good idea to be sketching at the ACM. looks like you took your time with the sketches. that would make a relaxing evening.

ReplyDeleteHi Buz, welcome to USK-SG and love the details in your sketch here. Make me want to visit museum too. I have not been to one for a long time. Keep posting.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive comments, everyone - one of the best things about our Sketchers group is receiving encouragement & suggestions, which motivates us to "keep on drawing"!
ReplyDeleteThere are lots more interesting cultural objects to sketch at the ACM - let me know if a small group is interested in going there again for sketching.
Wondrous! Great use of colours too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love your meticulous style and composition. Your captions also give more meaning and identity to the pieces you have featured.
