Tour Singapore
We started our journey from Kembangan MRT Station, taking a train and alighting at Raffles Place. We began our walk from Cecil Street, then continued on towards Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Telok Ayer Street. Along the way, we saw Far East Square and the sheltered or covered alleys filled with restaurants and shoppings. We were mostly impressed with how well the old shop houses are preserved and reconstructed to contain a touch of modern lifestyle, though sometimes I wish I could see these buildings in their past glory again -- just like how some of the pioneering artists saw them 20-30 years ago. Well, these are just 4 sketches made during our little tour to show the path we took.
lunch at food republic, vivocity
My son and I went to Food Republic at Vivo City for lunch. Food Republic is a mega food court that combines local hawker fare with mini restaurants in an open dining concept with an interior that invokes a nostalgic kampong atmosphere. The interior with a very high ceiling is filled with aged wooden beams, patterned floor tiles, old roof shingles, old panelled doors, big bird cages and red long lanterns. Even the tables and chairs are of oriental theme.
It was very crowded during lunch hours and the noodle stall in this sketch was very popular.

Meeting and sketching at Club Street
I was lamenting to some friends that it is really hard to find like-minded people to go out sketching with but I was wrong, for to my pleasant surprise, there are many who are passionate about sketching just for fun. One of them is Tia, who generously invited me to join USk Singapore. On a cooling but humid Saturday (Nov 21) I had this opportunity to meet up with so many passionate artists who have kinda inspired me somewhat that day. I will not let my pen come to rest!!
