sketching at the zoo again...

I continued with sketching at the zoo after a hot day and morning out at Labrador Nature Park with the Urban Sketchers. These are some of the sketches I did while strolling through the park as the temperature was coming down with the rain clouds gathering in our midst. Tools used: Pentel Brush Pen, Hero Fountain pen, Faber Castell Colored Pencils

Pen info for sketchers

As sketchers, I suppose we are all experimenting with different pens and I came across a few blog/websites which shows other pen shops in Singapore beside the usual ones most of us go to .
Like an old pen shop at Upper cross street etc.

Take a look and maybe we can go for a pen urban sketch day;)
Always good to check out new pens to try

They sell hero pens at punggol plaza too and Mustafa

Bus passengers

I travelled often by bus and train and I use this opportunity to practise
portrait sketching. It can be quite quite nerve wrecking at times. This may happen when the bus jerks to a stop, or the passenger you are sketching alights when you are half way through or other boarding passengers blocks the view. It is quite a relief when I can finish a sketch without mishaps.

The Old Tree

I was attracted to this old Madras Thorn tree that grows in a small park at the end of Kuo Chuan Ave, Katong. The trunk is huge and looks on the verge of being melted and its roots are protruding above the ground like tired veins of a hand. I sketched it one late evening, there was a young toddler playing, watched over by his grand parents. Before I could draw them into my sketch, they had disappeared. Many thanks to Tia for introducing me to USk, S'pore, and all her patient help to educate on the intricacies of manouvering inside the blog.
